Ordering, checkout & dealer portals for custom home products
Customers fall for your samples on your website, then get sent to an ordering portal that looks like someone else's software. Inlay gives homeowners a guided checkout that matches your site's fonts, colours and voice, gives your dealers and contractors their own B2B ordering portal, and pays out to your own payment account, whether that's Stripe or the processor you already use. One catalogue, both channels.
The drop-off
Illustration of a typical generic ordering portal. Same customer, same order, five seconds after leaving your website.
Most reno brands spend on photography, samples and ads, then hand the buyer to a generic order form at the most expensive moment of the sale.
A different logo, font and colour scheme makes buyers wonder if they've left your site. Trust drops right when you ask for a card.
Generic shop builders don't know a 15" door from a 15" filler panel. Customers order the wrong size and your team cleans it up by phone.
Many ordering platforms take 1 to 3% of every sale on top of card processing. On a $14,000 kitchen, that's up to $420 per job.
Your customer list sits in someone else's system, with no clear answer on who owns it or how you get it out.
Why buyers leave checkout
Baymard Institute's research across 50 studies puts the average cart abandonment rate at 70.22%. When shoppers who were only browsing are set aside, a large share of the rest leave because the checkout feels untrustworthy, confusing or broken. Those are the reasons Inlay is built to remove.

Reasons shoppers give for abandoning a checkout, excluding those who were just browsing:
Source: Baymard Institute, Cart Abandonment Rate Statistics, page updated September 22, 2025. Shoppers could give more than one reason. Baymard does not track "confusion" as its own category; the closest are not trusting the site, a long or complicated checkout, and site errors. These are averages across all online stores, not figures for custom home products.
The Inlay Way
Not every buyer wants to learn a configurator. With the Inlay Way, they type what they want in plain words, or upload a drawing or photo, and an on-screen cursor builds the order in front of them, one visible click at a time. It stops before payment, so the buyer always reviews and pays themselves.
"Twelve Shaker doors, 18 by 30, in forest green." Or a phone photo of a sketch with measurements on it.
The cursor picks each option and size on screen, so the buyer sees exactly what was chosen and why. Your trade rules still check every value.
It never presses pay. The buyer changes anything they like, then pays the deposit when they're happy.
How it works
A spreadsheet, a PDF price list, or an export from Shopify, Allmoxy or QuickBooks. We map products, options, sizes and the rules between them.
Inlay reads your fonts, colours, buttons and spacing and builds a checkout theme from them. You approve it side by side with your site.
Link your own Stripe account in two clicks, or keep the payment processor you already use. Choose deposit or pay-in-full per product, and set your tax rules by province or state.
Add one DNS record. Orders land in your inbox, your dashboard and, if you use it, your production software.
Step 1 starts here
Send the basics and we'll come back with a themed demo of your own checkout, built from your website and one product line.
No payment details needed. We only use this to prepare your demo.
Early planning · what your customers see
Most buyers want a rough number long before they're ready to configure. Inlay adds a budget estimator and real sample projects to your site, built from your own prices, so first-time buyers can plan with confidence and arrive at checkout already sold.

Built for the trades
If you sell custom products for the home, Inlay has a starting template for it. Each one ships with the rules for that trade, so the checkout catches the mistakes your sales team usually catches on the phone.

B2B dealer portal
Door makers, millwork shops and cabinet manufacturers sell through kitchen dealers, designers and contractors. Inlay gives each of them a login, their own pricing and a fast way to order, without a second system to maintain.
Set list price once. Each dealer, designer or contractor sees their own discount, minimums and freight rules when they sign in.
Dealers enter a PO number and order on Net 15, 30 or 60. Inlay creates the invoice in your Stripe and chases late payments for you.
Paste a cut list or upload a CSV of 200 door lines. The portal checks every size against your rules before the PO is accepted.
Dealers can send a quote to their own client with their logo and their markup. You stay the maker behind the scenes.
Several people per dealer account, with spending limits and an approver for large orders.
Every past PO is one click to reorder. Dealers see production and shipping status without calling your office.
Analytics · sell direct, learn direct
Inlay tracks each step of every order on your own domain: who started, where they stopped, who finished, and who ordered samples but never came back. It shows where those buyers are, so you know which follow-ups and which new regions are worth your time. Events also flow to Google Analytics 4 and Meta with revenue attached.

Orders & fulfilment
Inlay runs the whole order after checkout: staff verify it, production updates the status, each delivery method sends its own notice with tracking, and the right documents go out at the right time. Customers always know where their order is, and your team stops answering "where's my order?" emails.
| Order | Customer | Delivery | Status |
|---|
Fourteen days after delivery, buyers get a short email asking how it went, pointed at the review site you choose. Anyone who reports a problem goes to your team first, so you can fix it before it becomes a review.
Canada, the US and Quebec
Buyers see their own currency, units and language. Try the EN/FR/ES, CAD/USD and in/mm switches in the demo above.
Tax rules are set up with your accountant. Inlay applies them; it doesn't give tax advice.
Customer data & payments
Homeowners hand over their address, floor plans and payment for a five-figure project. Here is exactly where each piece goes.
Payment fields are Stripe's own secure elements. Stripe is certified PCI DSS Level 1, and we only ever see a "paid" receipt.
You connect your own payment account. Funds, refunds and disputes stay between you and your processor. We take no cut of the sale.
Stripe is built in, but you don't have to use it. Keep the processor you already have, take e-transfers, cheques or bank transfers for trade accounts, and still pay 0% of sales to us. Some platforms charge an extra fee when you leave their default processor; we don't.
Each company's orders sit in a separate, encrypted database (AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit). No shared customer tables.
Export every order and customer to CSV or by API at any time. We never sell, share or market to your customers. If you cancel, we delete everything within 30 days.
Pick where your data lives, with privacy terms written for PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25 and US state privacy laws.

Questions
No. Your site stays where it is, on Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, Wix or custom code. Your "Order" and "Get a quote" buttons link to order.yourdomain.com, which Inlay runs in your look.
Yes. Inlay handles the customer-facing ordering and payment, then sends the finished order into the shop, ordering or accounting system you already use, through a webhook, a CSV export or email.
Yes. Turn on the dealer portal only, skip homeowner checkout, and give each shop its own login, pricing tier and terms. Add homeowner checkout later if you want a retail channel.
Yes. Dealers can send quotes to their clients with their own logo and markup. Your name stays off the paperwork unless you want it on.
No. Stripe comes built in because it's quick to set up, but you can keep the card processor you already use. Tell us which one on your demo call and we'll confirm how it connects. Trade customers can also pay by e-transfer, cheque or bank transfer against an invoice, and orders are marked paid when the money arrives. Whichever you choose, Inlay takes 0% of your sales.
They run through your own payment account. You set the deposit percentage per product, and balances can be invoiced through your processor when the order ships.
You do. It's written into the agreement. You can export it any time, and we delete it within 30 days of cancelling.
Yes. If your font is licensed for web use, we load the same file. If not, we pick the closest licensed match and show you both before launch.
